Our Ace Veteran247!
Thank you for being such a valued member and friend of the Acehighradio family. We love your passion for the game, from your early 5-Card Draw days to your military memories and live tournament travels.
Your energy at the tables, both online and live, truly embodies what poker is all about—the thrill of the game, fairness, and friendships along the way. That $3,200 Bad Beat Jackpot and the $1,600 Bluff Shove chop are just part of an awesome journey, and we’re proud to have you with us.
Thanks for playing with us and making every session more exciting. Let’s keep it going—LFG, Veteran247!
Timothy Ashlock – AKA Veteran247
Hello friends and family of Acehighradio. I go by Veteran247 at the poker tables, a name I’ve used for quite some time. My real name is Timothy Ashlock.
I started playing poker when I was about 10 or 11 years old with my brothers and friends, using loose change for bets. Back then, the game we played was 5-Card Draw—a style that’s been around for decades. However, I didn’t play much poker during my teenage years since my focus shifted to other things, like girls. Texas Hold'em wasn’t introduced to me until around 2004 or 2005, just as I was preparing to leave the military.
At the time, I was 20 or 21 years old, and it was my section chief, Rob, who taught me the game. He often took me to the casino, and I remember how impressed I was watching him walk in with $50 and leave 30 minutes later with $400. That was in Lawton, OK—and witnessing it at such a young age, as an amateur, left a lasting impression on me.
After I returned from military service, my brother and I started holding home games with close friends and family, playing for small stakes. It wasn’t until 2008 or 2009 that a casino finally opened in my hometown, and from that point on, poker became a much bigger part of my life.
Another major influence on my poker journey was my ex-father-in-law, from whom I learned a great deal about poker strategy. Honestly, I don’t think I’d be the player I am today without his mentorship.
In addition to live poker, I’ve been playing online poker for years. I've played on several platforms, including PurePlay (as actor24783), CardPlayerPoker.com/NLOP.com (as actor247), PokerHost, ACR (as pokamasta247), and BetOnline.ag (again as Actor247). Over time, I transitioned to the name Veteran247, as I realized that while I may not always be an “actor,” I will always be a veteran. I haven't looked back since, especially after finding Bluff Shove.
I’ve also been part of the Acehighradio community through two or three sites before we all started playing on Bluff Shove Poker, and I’m proud to have grown with the group along the way.
These days, I still travel for poker, attending local tournaments when possible and occasionally heading to New Hampshire for certain promotions. Since my hometown poker room was closed for more than four years due to COVID-19—only reopening on July 12, 2024—I’ve gotten used to traveling for games. However, I try to manage my poker spending carefully. I even signed myself out of the Maine casinos to avoid being there all the time, as it could do more harm than good.
My biggest live cash win was $3,200, which came from a Bad Beat Jackpot. The hand was four aces beating three threes. The losing player took home $29,000, the winner received $19,000, and the rest of us at the table each got $3,200.
As for my biggest online payout, it happened right here on Bluff Shove during the WSOP Finals Championship. Thanks to Troy, we chopped four ways, and I walked away with roughly $1,600. It might not seem huge to some, but for me, it was a significant milestone.
That’s what I love about Bluff Shove—not just because of the wins, but because it shows that everyone has a fair shot to win or lose. There’s no favoritism, and importantly, no bots—well, except QuadBot and TestBot, but that’s a story for another day.
Thanks for reading my story. Good luck on the felts and happy hunting! Let’s freaking go!
Our Ace mooseknucklesmosley
"Hey Sean, or should I say Mooseknucklesmosley, Dedmoosewlkn, Moosenboots, Moosulv2h8, Mooseilini... and the legendary JuiceyMoosey! Thanks for sharing a bit of your story with us. You've got more names than a poker hand has outs, and each one probably has a tale worth hearing!
It's clear that you inherited your dad's humor and poker chops because you’re not only a tough player but also one of the funniest people around. The chat room lights up the moment you show up, and it's an honor to have you as part of the ACR Legends. Every hand with you is an experience, whether we’re laughing, learning, or, yes, even getting cussed out!
Thanks for bringing your wit, wisdom, and one-of-a-kind personality to the table. Looking forward to many more unforgettable moments!"
Hello, everyone! My name is Sean Mosley, but some of you might know me better as mooseknucklesmosley. I’ve gone by a few different names over the years: Dedmoosewlkn, Moosenboots, Moosulv2h8, Mooseilini... and, for a brief time in the late '90s, JuiceyMoosey—but that’s a story for another day.
I was born on February 12th, 1978, just outside of Seattle, WA, in a little place called OKC, OK. From an early age, I loved making people laugh. My dad was, and still is, the funniest person I know—and also one of the best poker players I’ve ever seen.
I’ve only played in one live tournament with my father, and out of 300 players, we ended up at the same table. He was directly to my left. The very first hand I was dealt, I got Kings. Short story shorter... he had Aces. And the rest is history.
I’m very honored to be named an Acehighradio Legend, and I want to say thank you to everyone. Whether our interactions were good, bad, or ugly—no matter how the hand played out—thank you. I’ve learned something from every hand. But make no mistake... I’ve cussed you all!
Our Ace Joker1979
Corey Lee Smyth, aka joker1979, your story is nothing short of inspiring! From your early poker days at grandma's to becoming a beloved figure in the poker community, your passion and resilience shine through. We're thrilled to see you not only in the Freebuys but also in the bigger buy-in games on Bluff. It's fantastic that you have so many poker communities around you—that's what we love to see at Acehighradio. Keep crushing it at the tables!
G’day everyone, it’s joker1979, aka crest, aka Corey Lee Smyth. I was born on November 24th, 1979, making me 44 years old at the moment. I'm very lucky to be alive, as shortly after birth, a nurse doing her rounds saw me with a blue face. An emergency surgery was performed, and my tonsils and adenoids were removed.
I have played poker from a very young age. In the 80s, my mother used to take me to my grandma's every Saturday. My mum, aunt, uncle, and grandma would always play cards, including multiple games with a few variations of poker.
Being bored, I wanted to play, so Mum let me join in. I've loved card games ever since. My favorite poker game is 5-card draw and its variations, with Texas Hold'em being my second favorite. As a teenager through to my mid-20s, I hardly played cards, except for a 5-card draw game a couple of times. Then, one day at a mate’s house, it was asked who wanted to play some poker.
We set it up without discussing the game itself, so I grabbed the cards, shuffled them, and started dealing. After I gave everyone their second card, a mass of yelling began at me, "What are you doing?".... I replied, "What are you talking about? I'm dealing." It was then I was informed that the game consisted of only 2 cards. I had never heard of that before, but knowing poker hands, I easily caught on.
My love for poker and gambling in general was reawakened that day and hasn’t slept since.
I started playing many NLH games with friends and pub poker almost every night. I met many people and made a few friends along the way. A few times, I took a couple of hundred dollars to the Adelaide Casino, which was the only place in Adelaide to play for real cash at the time. For a while, I really enjoyed a weekly game at the back of a shop that I was introduced to by a player I met at pub poker. This game had a $60 buy-in, which consisted of one buy-in plus an add-on, or it was a buy-in/rebuy, but you had to spend $60 at the start. We also put $2 in a big container per player every game. If you hit a royal flush, you won the full amount; a straight flush won you half the amount in the container.
My first online poker experience was on PokerStars as crest27, being that I am crest (lol), and I joined online poker at age 27. I also joined 888, ACR, Party Poker, and Full Tilt. I really liked Full Tilt's rake back; every Wednesday night, I was paid rake for the previous week's play, which was always around $50 but went up to $150 a few times. I continued to play online until it was outlawed in Australia. Not being able to play, I searched for a place to play poker and found it at Ignition, but I didn’t really like Ignition that much.
I joined a couple of online groups, obviously Acehighradio, THR, and MYCPC. I have stayed with all groups but really like where AHR has ended up and playing at BLUFF. I’ve been with Acehighradio.com through a couple of poker, rooms.
In life, I’ve worked many jobs, from McDonald's to factories, furniture removalist, and finally landing an awesome job hosting poker for the National Pub Poker League (NPPPL). Since I was a previous player, I was friends with most players when I got the job, so that made work easy. In fact, most of the time, I joined in the game as well. NPPPL is pub-based poker: buy a meal, drink, etc., stamp your card, fill it, and get more chips. Then COVID-19 happened, which ended poker hosting, and I never chose to go back.
Now I just hang at home on a pension due to hurting my back as a furniture removalist. I enjoy and look forward to playing some cards with different people from different groups almost every day. If there’s a freeroll at AHR , then I’m in there supporting.
And that's My Story!

The Inception of "The Sheep"
My poker journey started right after the Moneymaker poker boom, but that wasn't what set me on this path. I've always enjoyed and excelled at strategy-based games. With a family background in the military, we naturally gravitated towards games like Stratego and Risk, and later, games like Axis and Allies and War Hammer.
I'm a trained chef with a respectable resume. One year, I got a gig working deer season and moose season at a very exclusive hunting club that had some of the richest men in Canada as members. One member's family even owns the patent on the 3-ring binder. It was the dream gig for a chef like me, as I stood to make a significant amount of money for a 4-week gig, with one week off between deer season and moose season.
At the club, they played Texas Hold'em every night with a $20 entry, followed by a no-holds-barred cash game with two tables going. Thinking, "I'm a smart guy, it's just a strategy game," I joined in, despite never having played a serious game of poker in my life. Needless to say, it did not go well. If not for the sympathy of a few members, I would have gone home empty-handed. Even with their generosity, I still went home with less than a third of what I could have made.
I did a great job regardless and was asked to renew the contract for the next year. I did, vowing revenge on the president of the hunting lodge (the one who really cleaned me out). I went home and immediately started searching online to learn how to play poker. I had a year to learn and was eager to get started.
I stumbled upon a poker community called Railbirds, a treasure trove of poker knowledge. Great players shared insights into the game. I learned a lot from players like TheGame187, who helped me solidify a tight-aggressive style, and A55A5IN, who taught me about variance through detailed hand analysis. The player who most inspired the player I am today was EMK4976, known for his aggression and willingness to press the action.
I integrated all this knowledge with my own insights and returned to the hunting lodge, determined. I played so well that by week two, I was no longer allowed to play. If I sat down to play cash, they'd all go to bed early. "Gotta hunt in the morning, right boys?" I'd say, rubbing it in. I won over $7k in the week and few days they let me play. Revenge is sweet, and I've been hooked on poker ever since.
I've had some big cashes too. TheGame187 introduced me to satellite games on PokerStars to get into the Sunday Million and the Sunday Storm 50k. I could win a ticket, unregister, and save up tournament dollars for bigger buy-ins. I won several ticket entries to the Sunday Storm for $4.40 buy-ins. I played the game that Sunday and won the whole thing – my biggest cash ever: $12.8k on a $4.40 buy-in. Talk about ROI.
I play a lot of live cash tables, my game of choice, and have several amusing stories of breaking players live. I've taken down a pot for over $4k with air, making a 3-barrel bluff.
I've always been known as LoCcO_OhNo from Railbirds, but when I came out of retirement from my site, The Hardcore Poker Network, I started helping a group on Facebook with their poker promotions. The site they played on (now defunct) featured freebuy games called the Sheeps Hiway. Wanting to disguise myself, I set out to win my way out of those freebuys and into the games and a free bankroll. I did, and thus, The Sheep you all know and love today was born.
I helped my friend Walter Smith develop the Monkey Man Poker Club, and we haven't looked back. We have a very happy and prosperous group of misfit monkeys. We've also joined forces with Ace High Radio, where I'm enjoying learning to do a radio show. We're starting to kick some ass, and the future is bright for Ace High Radio, The Monkey Man Poker Club, and Bluff Shove Poker.
We offer the unique ability to work together to promote poker to a wider audience, and we're proof that it can work. To all you Ace High Rollers, you guys rock and have made me feel welcomed and valued. I'm truly grateful.
And that's how I became the CrAzY_ShEeP.
Our Ace Regulator
Hello, AceHighRadio community! Today, we are thrilled to spotlight one of our most fantastic players and respected members, Regulator. Both on and off the poker tables, he embodies the true spirit of our community with his skill, camaraderie, and resilience. We are honored to hear his incredible journey, filled with challenges and triumphs. Regulator, thank you for sharing your story with us. We're proud to have you as part of the AceHighRadio family!
Hello, my poker degenz! It's your friendly neighborhood REGULATOR here, and I'm here to tell my poker bio-history.
I am 53 years young and love to play tournament NLH poker and PLO/BigO cash tables. Believe it or not, I never really played cards throughout my life until the poker boom happened about 20 years ago.
One day, a friend asked me to play in his home game with a bunch of friends. I didn't have a clue on how to play, but I grabbed a 12-pack of beer and went anyway. It seemed everyone was trying to explain the game to me at once, and I wasn't sure who to trust or listen to ... imagine that, LOL. After a while, I got lucky and won some hands and thought this game had a lot of similarities to Yahtzee. There was one pair, two pairs, three of a kind (set or trips), no small straights, but the large straight was five numbers in a row, and a full house, quads ... Yahtzee was the royal, I guess ... haha LOL. Anyway, I lost and had a blast and was hooked after that.
So, I began to watch the game on TV a lot, read up on the rules, and played some PartyPoker ... then I was really hooked. I remember going to the library and reading all the poker-related books: Super/System, Barry Greenstein, Chris Ferguson, Chris Moneymaker, etc. I was just sponging in all this info and began to play on Full Tilt Poker and PokerStars, of course. I was playing 12 hours a day, every day, and it was regular to play 12 or more tables at once ... I'm surprised I didn't have a seizure, LOL.
I was playing Full Tilt Poker one day, and a player told me about Railbirds.com, and shortly I joined. Railbirds was the best poker community ever, and I enjoyed being a member for years until good 'ole Black Friday happened. After that, I played a lot of home games and played at this place called "The Barn." People from all walks of life, of all ages, played here every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. It was always about 30 people or more, and I learned so much from the live experiences. But soon, life got too busy for poker, and I eventually just stopped playing for maybe a decade.
Without getting too personal, life threw me a curveball at the worst time in my life ... but isn't that life? When it rains, it pours, and it was pouring. I was 47 years old, and I found out way too late (11 months too late) about a blood clot behind my knee and had to have my leg amputated not once but twice (after the first amputation, it got horribly infected). The second amputation was successful, but they had to amputate higher, so I lost my knee. I should have really died so many times I can recall that year that it scares me to remember, but I'll never forget it. Sure, I lost my leg, and life changed forever, but I gained a new life that is so much better and richer now for going through my hardships. All glory to GOD. These were the toughest days of my life.
One day, an old Railbird connected with me on Facebook, good 'ole Downunderdiva, and it wasn't long before we reunited with a lot of old birds on this platform because Railbirds.com did not exist any longer. It wasn't long before we started playing on a site called 64 Spades. After about playing for 3 or 4 months, everything I learned over the years to current, I put it all together and created my own guidelines to playing "MY" game. It wasn't long before I turned a $50 deposit into just over $2900.00. I was stoked and loved it! 64 Spades didn't have a cashier for almost a year, I think, but a few friends and I always were selling our chips to other players. I loved playing here, and the players as a community were great.
This is where I first joined AceHighRadio and checked out DJ Reemo, Samo, and many other DJs and the players on game nights. I thought it was really cool (and still is to this day) and loved to participate. It was therapeutic for me going through a rough time and helped me get my mind off other things and not get into trouble. Then there was Atlas Poker, same show, different poker site name, and the same POS owner who scammed everyone. BUT that's okay ... all bad always turns to good because it led us to playing on Bluff Shove Poker! Imagine getting quick withdrawals, no more waiting for 2 weeks or longer ... OMG it's fantastic at BSP, and AHR rocks to this day!
I love picking the brains of players, switching gears regularly, and making money! I'm very, very, very competitive and put all skills of poker in motion when I play. I've proven to myself that I can win any leaderboard when I want to, but they are very demanding of your time to do so. I will not tell any successful guidelines to regulating a solid game except there is no replacement for experience, and Lord knows I've paid my dues and still learn always, so get busy losing so someday you can win too, LOL. Everyone learns their own style that suits them, and some recreational players never evolve, which is just fine for me!
A big thank you to Samo, DJ Reemo, CG, Suebee, and all you players who make AHR what it is! AHR ROCKS ALWAYS, and I'll always be playing with all of you ... God Bless and Mount UP!
This is my story, Regulator
Our Ace Morningwood
Today, we know and love Jimmy as Morningwood, always a shark at the tables. We're thrilled to have the legendary Morningwood, a.k.a. Jimmy, in our chat room, where he makes it fun for everyone. We know how much he enjoys his Wednesday date nights, tuning in to DJ Reemo live on the AHR airwaves. His generosity with chat room prizes and surprises is just another reason we appreciate him. So here's to you, Morningwood – thanks for being a part of our community! Now, let's dive into his amazing poker journey!
Hi I'm Jimmy, Born on July 16th, 1984, I came out of the womb with math on my mind. By the age of five, I was already feeding and watering the farm animals to earn a weekly allowance. In 1990, at just six years old, I played in my first home game with my family, and it quickly became a weekly penny ante event. While most kids my age were saving up for Ninja Turtle and Power Ranger action figures, I was eagerly looking forward to my weekly chance to run it up against the family.
Fast forward to my teen years, from 14 to 19, my friends and I picked up No-Limit Hold’em (NLH). We played twice a week, and I did very well against these amateurs. The games grew bigger each week, mostly tournaments. Occasionally, I’d make a trip to the casino with friends to play 1-2 NLH as soon as I turned 18 and could get in the door. I recall playing multiple 20-hour sessions, but the one that sticks out the most was when I sat with $140 on a Tuesday night around 9 PM and left on Thursday morning at 8 AM with $4,300. “It was a great session that day, and I wish those sessions happened more often!”
In 2015, there was a layoff at my job due to the business closing. To make ends meet, I started participating in a daily $25 event at Siloam Springs Cherokee Casino. I cashed in 19 out of my first 24 tournaments, with 12 first-place finishes, 3 second-place finishes, and 2 third-place finishes in those 19 cashes. “It was a heater for that month, and I made a lot of people aware of who I was, so it was tough to get any action at the cash tables. I took a few years off after that month because the business I worked for was reopening.”
In 2020, I was introduced to the Mavens software through Big Dog Poker, playing under the name Jwade_2442. I did very well playing in micro NLH MTTs. “I met a lot of my online family there at BD, and a lot of us still keep in touch to this day.”
By 2021, I took my math skills to the BIGO (hi-lo) scene and became the reigning BSOP BIGO Champion. “I feel like that bracelet event was full of better hi-lo players than myself. But I was zoned in and focused. I was nervous at the same time with the likes of Reemo, Dyson, and Bruinbybirth there at the final four. I chose not to chop because I wanted the hardware! I would rather compete if the prize pool makes sense.”
In 2022 I got my first shot at Vegas. Stayed 17 days. Did very well and even cashed a two day tourney. But me and my whole party caught covid three days in. Only got to play three of the 17 days. Hopefully someday I'll get another chance to make my run at fame
Today, everyone knows me as Morningwood, and I’m always a shark at the table.
Our Ace PokerFace
We're excited to share a special poker story from one of our cherished community members, PokerFace, aka Maureen. Known to her friends as Mo, she's been a passionate poker player for years, with a wealth of experiences from both live and online tables. Thank you for being a part of the Ace High Radio family. Your contributions and presence at the tables enrich our community, and we’re grateful for players like you. Keep those cards flying, and we look forward to many more shared poker adventures! Let's dive into her journey and hear about some of her unforgettable poker moments..
Hi PokerFace here...
Maureen...but my friends call me Mo. So where to start, I've been playing Poker for as long as I can remember. I just fell in love with the game. I live about a 2 hour drive to Vegas, so my poker years have been between live and online. Nothing better than Vegas sitting at a live cash table.
I always enjoyed playing live tournaments too. I've played WSOP Ladies Tournament /won a stake from Hog Wild Poker years ago. That's was an experience There were 954 ladies entered, at the end of day 1 only 122 were left! 832 eliminated including 9 pros. Lately I've been thinking and talking about trying to set up a Ladies Tournament on Bluff ?
I think my favorite Poker weekend was when Zynga Poker...back in 2011 offered Zynga Poker Con weekend at The Palms in Vegas. First class all the way. So many pros were there. I was able to meet Doyle Brunson, played a Sit n Go with Scotti Nguyen, and spent time with so many pros.
Zynga PokerCon Bets Big at Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas | Business Wire Poker Heaven Weekend !
I've always been a mix of online/live poker. Probably played at a lot of sites you haven't heard of. My profile photo on Facebook is from Binion's Casino years ago, with players from Jet Set Poker. We would meet up yearly in Vegas. Book a block of rooms and play tournaments for the weekend. Really good times! Something I would love to see Ace High Radio/Bluff eventually set up and plan.
PokerFace hasn't always my screen name. Some of you may have played with me when I used my old screen name MoChkRch,( other sites/ 64 Spades) is short for Mo's Chicken Ranch.. but that's a whole different story. Yeah I've been around for awhile.
When I was asked to write my poker story, I wasn't sure what to say but Thank You! Ace High Radio, You've always made me feel like family, and I appreciate that more than you know.. for including me...and the players I've got to know at the tables that I consider friends.
Our Ace Littest
I am thrilled to introduce you to one of Acehighradio’s most esteemed and long-standing members, Littest. His journey with us spans many years, and we've even accompanied him to Las Vegas for the World Series of Poker (WSOP) multiple times. Littest is not only a passionate sports bettor but also an invaluable DJ during the football season, providing keen insights into all things football and beyond.
What truly sets Littest apart is his distinctive personality. He's known for his strong opinions, love for the green, and his well-known fondness for Epsom salt baths, a topic often discussed in the Acehighradio chat room. Littest is a professional poker player who has made a name for himself in the Henderson Mob book of greats, solidifying his status in the poker community.
Affectionately known as "Littest the Philosopher," he brings a unique perspective and positive energy to any conversation. You can regularly find him engaging with the Acehighradio community in our chat room, sharing his wisdom and camaraderie daily.
Hi I'm Littest
I grew up competing in sports, and in my early 30s, I was playing pick-up hockey to satisfy my competitive fix. Up to that point, my poker experience was limited to wild card home games like Kings and Little People or Baseball Murder. In 2002, I discovered online poker on Party Poker and was quickly hooked.
I started a small Thursday night Hold'em tournament with a co-worker's spouse. After Party Poker left the US market, I moved to UB and won a tournament for $14,500. Feeling confident about my poker skills, I got myself fired from my job to try to make it as an online pro.
I only lasted eight months, but even when I went back to work and switched to PokerStars, I knew I wanted to try again. I was about to quit my job again when Black Friday happened. After that, I met all of you wonderful people through Acehighradio's first shows with Pete and The Judge hosting a game on Carbon.
I made another attempt to play poker professionally, attending the WSOP live for the first time that year. Although I didn't succeed, I've attended the WSOP every year since, except during the COVID years. I believe PLO8 is the best version of poker, and I'm now chasing my bracelet in that event at the WSOP every year.
Our Ace AKWild
I want to acknowledge one of our Aces, AKWild! I'm thrilled to share AKWild's inspiring story. He has been a member of AceHighRadio for many years and has seen the ups and downs of everything we as a group have done. And he is still here! Many of us fear him when he is on our poker table in tournaments as he is sure a fantastic poker player and member.
I have always looked forward to AKWild going back out on the boat as he is a fisherman working in Alaska a few months of the year (just kidding, AKWild!).
Thank you for being a part of our community at AceHighRadio!
Hi, Tom here, or AKWild in the online poker world. I just turned 64 on June 7th and had a great birthday game put on by Samo and AHR/Bluff.
My family always played cards, so by the time I was 7 or 8, I knew how to play most games. Usually, it was Panguingue (Pan for short), pinochle, or cribbage. The kids would also play poker once in a while. By playing these home games, I became very competitive and loved the excitement and challenges.
In 2004, a friend told me about an online poker site that he and a few others were playing on. I made an account and started playing. Whenever I heard about another site, I would download it. Over the next few years, I tried quite a few online sites. Once I found PokerStars, everything changed. I came in first in a freeroll with 10,000 players and did well in some tournaments, but I was never much of a cash player.
When Doyle Brunson had his own poker site, Doyle's Room, there was a Thursday night bounty game that was very fun to play. There were always three pros playing with a $1,000 bounty on them: Doyle, Todd, Pam, Hoyt Corkins, Mike Caro, and a few others. It was very enjoyable to chat with the pros. I once took out Doyle with KTs against his QQ.
As for live poker, while in Laughlin, Nevada, they had a monthly poker tournament at the Golden Nugget with 185-250 players, an $80 buy-in for 8,000 chips, and a $20 add-on for 4,000 chips within the first hour. These were my first large events. I played in seven of them before they closed the room down, chopping three final tables and placing a fourth time.
In 2013, I started playing in the WSOP circuit games in Lake Tahoe. I loved the single-table tournaments they had, won a few satellite tournaments, and cashed 20th out of 537 players in one tournament. The best year was 2016 when I took 3rd out of 277 players in the senior’s event.
Then I took a break because of COVID. I only played at one venue last year, playing four times and cashing once. My dream is to play in the WSOP Main Event, which is coming closer to becoming a reality.
Over the years, I have been a member of many forums and chat rooms. Ace High Radio has been awesome and makes a person feel welcome. Thanks to Samo, Reemo, CG, and all who make acehighradio.com what it is today. It's nice to have a great place to play again. Thanks, Bluff Shove Poker
Our Ace Tomass
I’m thrilled to share an inspiring story about one of our own Aces, Tomass
With nearly 20 years of online poker experience, Tom has had a remarkable journey. One of Tom’s proudest moments came in 2020 when he finished 2nd in a 25k GTD tournament, all from a $10 satellite entry!
Tom cherishes the camaraderie of our online poker community, enjoying the fun and excitement of our tournaments. His story is a testament to dedication, resilience, and the love of the game. Let’s celebrate Tom’s journey and be inspired by his incredible experiences!
I'm Tom, nearly 55 years old, and this November will mark 30 years of marriage. I have a fantastic daughter and a soon-to-be daughter-in-law.
My father’s family always played cards. Wherever and whenever, we were playing. All kinds of home games, dealer’s choice—you name it, we played it.
I’ve been playing online for about 20 years now, with decent success and a healthy profit. My best tournament was in 2020. It was a 25k GTD, and I came in 2nd. This part always makes me smile: it was a $100 buy-in, but I didn’t have that in my account. So, I played a $10 satellite and won a ticket. I had no money for rebuys or add-ons. Everything went great. The final hand was a doozy—AQ, and the flop came A9Q. I bet and got reraised big. I insta-shoved, and he had A8. I was pumped up like crazy. The turn was T, and the river was J. I was devastated. He had me covered. I was so happy with the payout that I kind of forgot about that hand for a day or so, but then it just kept festering.
My dream is definitely to play in the WSOP! I feel like I get close to getting there, and then it falls apart. The only way to go is to build it by playing poker. So, it’s a fantasy, but I love trying. The game of poker is grand. When you play a hand perfectly, and it holds, and you chip up, it’s a great feeling. The bad beats are what they are, but getting outplayed is always a great lesson in the game.
I’ve met a lot of people playing online. I love having fun, and poker will never keep me from having a good time, win or lose! The tournaments at Bluff and AHR are absolutely a great time. You have someone like Samo working her tail off just for everyone to have fun. It’s a perfect fit for me. Then you add a DJ like Reemo—he’s great at it, knowledgeable for sure, calls great hands, and always has something good going on.
My poker style is very basic, but I’ve had some bigger moments that have got me hooked, just like a dang fish!
